island green smoothie recipe

  • Author: Amanda Miller
  • Total Time: 7 minutes
  • Yield: 12 servings 1x
  • Diet: Vegan

Description

A refreshing and healthy island green smoothie packed with tropical flavors and essential nutrients, perfect for busy mornings, a quick post-workout boost, or a healthy afternoon snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 80 g fresh spinach, packed
  • 150 g frozen pineapple chunks
  • 150 g frozen mango chunks
  • 1 medium (100 g) frozen banana, sliced
  • 240 ml unsweetened coconut water
  • 15 ml fresh lime juice

Instructions

  1. Add Liquid: Pour 240 ml unsweetened coconut water into a high-speed blender.
  2. Load Remaining Ingredients: Add 80 g fresh spinach, 150 g frozen pineapple chunks, 150 g frozen mango chunks, 1 medium (100 g) sliced frozen banana, and 15 ml fresh lime juice to the blender.
  3. Blend Until Smooth: Secure the lid and blend on low speed for about 30 seconds until ingredients begin to break down. Increase to high speed and blend for 1-2 minutes until completely smooth and creamy, with no visible spinach bits.
  4. Adjust Consistency (if needed): If the smoothie is too thick, splash in 60 ml more coconut water, or more 30 ml at a time, blending briefly after each addition until desired pourable consistency is reached.
  5. Serve Immediately: Pour into a tall glass and serve chilled.

Notes

For dairy-free options, use almond, oat, or soy milk instead of coconut water. Swap spinach for kale (start with less for milder flavor). Add one scoop of protein powder for a protein boost. For a sweeter smoothie, add one pitted Medjool date or 1-2 teaspoons maple syrup. For a thicker smoothie, use less liquid or add 0.25 cup rolled oats. For kids, start with 0.5 cup spinach and gradually increase. Using frozen fruit provides consistent texture and coldness without needing ice. A high-speed blender ensures a silky-smooth finish.
