hamburger sauce recipe
- Total Time: 40 minutes
- Yield: 10 servings 1x
- Diet: General
Description
A tangy and smoky chipotle cream sauce designed to elevate classic hamburgers. This easy recipe blends pantry staples like mayonnaise, ketchup, and chipotles in adobo for a flavorful condiment that’s perfect for next-level family burger nights.
Ingredients
- 1 cup mayonnaise, full-fat
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
- 2 tablespoons finely diced dill pickles
- 1 tablespoon finely minced red onion
- 1 to 2 chipotle peppers in adobo, finely minced
- 1 tablespoon adobo sauce from chipotle can
- 1 teaspoon fresh lime juice
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped (optional garnish)
Instructions
- Combine Ingredients: In a medium bowl, combine the mayonnaise, ketchup, yellow mustard, diced dill pickles, minced red onion, minced chipotle peppers, adobo sauce, fresh lime juice, garlic powder, and smoked paprika.
- Whisk and Mix: Stir all ingredients thoroughly with a spoon or whisk until the sauce is uniform in color and texture. For a smoother consistency, briefly use an immersion blender.
- Adjust Seasoning: Taste the sauce and add salt and pepper as needed based on preference. If you prefer more heat, add another minced chipotle pepper or a dash more adobo sauce.
- Chill Before Serving: Cover the bowl and refrigerate the sauce for at least 30 minutes. This chilling period allows the flavors to meld and deepens the overall taste.
- Serve and Garnish: Spoon the sauce onto toasted buns for burgers, or serve in a small bowl as a dipping sauce for fries and onion rings. Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
Notes
For best results, use full-fat mayonnaise. Adjust heat by adding more or less chipotle peppers based on your preference. Refrigerating for at least 30 minutes allows the flavors to meld and thickens the sauce for better consistency on a burger.
