Description
This Smoked Turkey Goat Cheese Log with Honey-Thyme Glaze is a sophisticated and easy-to-make appetizer. The creamy goat cheese and savory smoked turkey are perfectly complemented by a sweet and herbaceous honey-thyme glaze, making it a guaranteed crowd-pleaser.
Ingredients
- 200g (7oz) goat cheese, softened
- 100g (3½oz) cream cheese, softened
- 150g (5⅓oz) smoked turkey, finely chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tsp (5ml) fresh thyme leaves
- ½ tsp (2½ml) black pepper
- ¼ tsp (1¼ml) salt
- 1 egg, beaten
- 50g (1¾oz) panko breadcrumbs
- 3 tbsp (45ml) honey
- 1 tsp (5ml) lemon juice
- 1 tbsp (15g) unsalted butter
- 1 tbsp (15g) toasted pine nuts (optional)
Instructions
- Combine Cheeses & Seasonings: Blend softened goat and cream cheese with garlic, pepper, salt, and thyme.
- Add Turkey: Gently fold in chopped smoked turkey.
- Shape & Chill: Form mixture into a log and chill for 20 minutes.
- Coat with Egg: Brush chilled log with beaten egg.
- Coat with Breadcrumbs: Roll in panko breadcrumbs.
- Bake: Bake at 190°C (375°F) for 18-20 minutes until golden.
- Make Glaze: Melt butter, honey, lemon juice, and thyme.
- Glaze & Garnish: Drizzle glaze over baked log and garnish with pine nuts and thyme.
- Slice & Serve: Slice and serve with crackers or bread.
Notes
For a spicier kick, add red pepper flakes. Substitute turkey with ham or bacon. Rosemary or chives can replace thyme.
