acai bowl recipe Dragon Fruit Swirl
- Total Time: 10 minutes
- Yield: 1–2 servings 1x
- Diet: General
Description
This stunning acai bowl with a dragon fruit swirl transforms mundane mornings into a delicious art show, delivering vibrant color and a refreshing texture, perfect for a quick, healthy breakfast. It is designed for busy parents or anyone craving a health kick without the fuss.
Ingredients
- 2 packets frozen acai puree, unsweetened (100g each)
- 1 medium frozen banana
- 0.5 cup frozen mixed berries (75g)
- 0.25 cup milk of choice (60ml)
- 0.5 cup dragon fruit, fresh or frozen (75g)
- Optional toppings: granola, shredded coconut, chia seeds, fresh fruit
Instructions
- Prepare Your Swirl: Blend 0.5 cup (75g) of dragon fruit (fresh or frozen) with 1 tablespoon (15ml) of liquid (water or milk) until smooth and vibrant (about 2 minutes). Set aside.
- Blend the Base: In a high-speed blender, combine 2 frozen acai packets, 1 frozen banana, 0.5 cup (75g) frozen mixed berries, and 0.25 cup (60ml) milk of choice. Ensure acai packets are well-frozen for the richest flavor.
- Achieve Thick Consistency: Blend on low speed, gradually increasing, for 3-5 minutes. Use a blender tamper to push ingredients down. Add 1-2 tablespoons of extra liquid only if absolutely needed. Aim for a thick, soft-serve texture; if too thin, add a small handful of frozen berries or ice cubes and re-blend.
- Swirl and Serve: Pour the thick acai base into a bowl. Drizzle the prepared dragon fruit puree over the top, then use a skewer or spoon handle to create a beautiful swirl design.
- Top it Off: Add your favorite toppings like crunchy granola, fresh sliced fruit, or toasted coconut flakes, and enjoy this healthy breakfast immediately.
Notes
If acai is unavailable, use more frozen mixed berries. For the swirl, substitute dragon fruit with ripe mango or raspberries. Opt for unsweetened acai and plant-based milks to manage sugar. Boost protein with a scoop of protein powder or nutrients with a handful of spinach. Store frozen fruit in airtight bags to prevent freezer burn. Use pre-cut frozen fruit to save time. Prep the dragon fruit swirl up to 3 days ahead in the fridge. Avoid adding too much liquid; if your bowl becomes too soupy, add more frozen fruit or ice cubes to thicken it. Avoid over-blending to prevent warming the ingredients.
