Description

This cozy apple smoothie recipe captures the essence of warm apple pie with fresh apples and a special homemade spiced maple syrup. It’s a hearty and nutritious breakfast or snack, perfect for using seasonal apples.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 medium apples, cored and chopped
  • 1 cup milk (dairy or plant-based)
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
  • Pinch sea salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Spiced Maple Ribbons: In a small saucepan, combine the maple syrup, water, spices, and salt. Bring to a gentle simmer for 3–5 minutes, stirring until slightly thickened and glossy. Remove from heat and cool completely before assembling.
  2. Blend Apple Smoothie: Add the chopped apples, milk, and ice cubes to a high-speed blender. Blend for 60–90 seconds until completely smooth. Add more milk or ice to adjust thickness as desired.
  3. Assemble Smoothie: Choose a clear glass and drizzle 1–2 tablespoons of the cooled spiced maple syrup onto the inside walls to create streaks. Carefully pour the smoothie into the glass.
  4. Garnish and Serve: Finish with an additional drizzle of syrup over the top and a light dusting of cinnamon. Serve immediately while cold.

Notes

To create a smooth consistency with the apple peel, use a high-speed blender. For a time-saving option, skip the ribbon step and blend the spices directly into the smoothie mixture. The spiced maple ribbons can be prepared up to two weeks in advance and stored in the refrigerator.
