  • 1 Tbsp (15ml) Orange Juice: Amplifies orange flavor.
  • 60g (¼ cup) Honey: For a glossy glaze.
  • 30ml (2 Tbsp) Orange Juice: Balances glaze sweetness.
  • 1 Tbsp (15g) Unsalted Butter: Adds shine to the glaze.
  • 1 Tbsp (8g) Powdered Sugar (Optional): For thicker glaze.
  • 1 Tbsp (8g) Toasted Almond Slivers: Adds crunch and nutty flavor.
  • Candied Orange Peel: Provides visual contrast and citrus sweetness.

Instructions

  1. Preheat & Prep: Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F) and grease/line a 23cm (9-inch) cake pan.
  2. Combine Dry: Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Cream Butter & Honey: Cream butter and honey until light and fluffy, then beat in the egg.
  4. Add Wet: Stir in orange zest, juice, and milk.
  5. Combine Wet & Dry: Gently fold dry ingredients into wet ingredients.
  6. Bake: Pour batter into pan and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  7. Make Glaze: Heat honey, orange juice, and butter until glossy.
  8. Glaze Cake: Poke holes in warm cake and pour glaze over it.
