Description

This creamy, dreamy Buffalo Swirl With Blue Crumble chicken dip is a family favorite with a golden, bubbly cheese top and rich, tangy filling. It is an easy, hearty dish perfect for busy weeknights or entertaining, designed for maximum flavor and minimal effort.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups (450g) shredded cooked chicken
  • 8 oz (226g) block cream cheese, softened
  • 0.5 cup (120ml) sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 0.75 cup (180ml) Buffalo sauce, divided
  • 1.5 cups (170g) shredded sharp cheddar cheese, divided
  • 0.5 cup (55g) blue cheese crumbles
  • 0.25 cup (60ml) ranch or blue cheese dressing (optional)
  • 1 tsp (5g) garlic powder
  • 1 tsp (5g) onion powder
  • 0.5 tsp (3g) salt
  • 0.25 tsp (1g) black pepper, freshly ground

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 375F (190C). Lightly grease a medium baking dish (about a 9×13 inch dish).
  2. Combine Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, mix softened cream cheese, sour cream (or Greek yogurt), 0.5 cup Buffalo sauce, ranch or blue cheese dressing (if using), garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until smooth and well combined.
  3. Add Chicken & Cheese: Stir in the shredded cooked chicken and 1 cup of the shredded cheddar cheese until evenly distributed throughout the creamy base.
  4. Spread into Dish: Transfer the mixture into your prepared baking dish, spreading it into an even layer with a spatula.
  5. Swirl & Top: Drizzle the remaining 0.25 cup Buffalo sauce over the top and use a knife or skewer to gently drag through the sauce, creating a Buffalo Swirl pattern. Sprinkle the remaining 0.5 cup cheddar cheese and the blue cheese crumbles over the top.
  6. Bake to Perfection: Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until bubbly around the edges and the cheese is melted and lightly golden. The center should be hot and slightly puffed.
  7. Serve Hot: Let it cool for a few minutes before serving with your favorite dippers.

Notes

To make this dish low-carb, ensure your sauces and dressings are sugar-free. For a vegan option, use plant-based chicken substitute and dairy-free cheeses, adjusting baking time as needed. If the dip is too thick, add a splash of milk or chicken broth before baking; if too thin, stir in a tablespoon of cornstarch mixed with water. For even cheese melting, cover loosely with foil for the first 15 minutes of baking, then remove for browning. Garnish with fresh chives, parsley, or dill. Serve with crisp celery sticks, carrot sticks, bell pepper dippers, gluten-free crackers, or garlic bread.
