Description

These Chipotle Honey Glazed French Dip Tortilla Roll Ups offer a delightful fusion of classic French Dip flavors in a convenient, fun roll-up form. Tender halal beef, a smoky-sweet glaze, and melty provolone are wrapped in warm tortillas for a crowd-pleasing meal.


Ingredients

  • 500 g (1.1 lb) thinly sliced halal beef roast, seasoned with salt and pepper
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml) vegetable oil
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 250 ml (1 cup) halal beef broth
  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) soy sauce
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) vegetarian Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) Dijon mustard
  • 8 large flour tortillas (≈25 cm / 10″)
  • 100 g (3.5 oz) shredded provolone cheese
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml) honey
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) chipotle in adobo sauce
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) fresh lime juice
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml) fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) toasted sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Season Beef: Season thinly sliced beef with salt and pepper.
  2. Sear Beef: Sear beef in batches until browned.
  3. Sauté Aromatics: Sauté onion until golden, then add garlic.
  4. Create Braising Liquid: Combine broth, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and mustard.
  5. Braise Beef: Return beef to skillet and simmer until tender.
  6. Shred Beef: Shred beef and return to skillet.
  7. Prepare Glaze: Simmer honey, chipotle, lime juice, and butter.
  8. Warm Tortillas: Warm tortillas in a skillet.
  9. Assemble Roll-Ups: Spread glaze, beef, and cheese on tortillas, then roll tightly.
  10. Glaze & Garnish: Brush with glaze, sprinkle with cilantro and sesame seeds.
  11. Bake: Bake at 180°C (350°F) until cheese is melted.
  12. Rest & Serve: Rest, slice, and serve with reserved broth.

Notes

For best results, don’t overfill the tortillas and roll tightly. Resting the roll-ups after baking allows the cheese to set and flavors to meld.
