- 250g dark chocolate, finely chopped
- 120ml heavy cream
- 25g butter
- Cocoa powder, espresso powder, vanilla extract, or peppermint extract (optional flavor additions)
- Cocoa powder, finely chopped nuts, shredded coconut, or crushed biscuits (for coating)
Instructions
- Chop and Melt Chocolate – Finely chop the dark chocolate and melt in a heatproof bowl over simmering water or microwave in short bursts.
- Heat Cream – Warm the heavy cream until just about to simmer, then pour over the melted chocolate.
- Stir in Butter and Flavorings – Add the butter and any flavor additions; stir until smooth.
- Chill Ganache – Cover and refrigerate for about 2 hours until firm.
- Roll into Balls – Scoop small portions and roll gently between palms.
- Coat as Desired – Roll in cocoa, nuts, coconut, or dip in melted chocolate.
- Store in Airtight Container – Keep in a cool spot or refrigerate; bring to room temperature before serving.
Notes
- For a dairy-free version, replace cream with coconut milk and butter with vegan butter.
- Truffles can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 weeks or frozen for up to 3 months.
- When gifting, use paper candy cups and small boxes for presentation.
