Instructions
- Prep the Pastry: Thaw one sheet of puff pastry as directed on the package (approx. 20-30 minutes at room temperature) until pliable but still cold. Unroll it onto a lightly floured surface and cut into 9 even squares, about 3×3 inches each.
- Make the Cream Cheese Filling: In a medium bowl, beat 8 oz (226g) softened cream cheese, 0.25 cup (50g) granulated sugar, and 0.5 teaspoon vanilla extract using an electric mixer for 2-3 minutes. Beat until the mixture is smooth and lump-free.
- Assemble the Danishes: Spoon about 1.5 tablespoons of the cream cheese mixture onto the center of each pastry square. Gently swirl about 1 teaspoon of raspberry preserves on top with a toothpick or small knife to create a ‘Raspberry Rosette’ effect.
- Create the Golden Flake Edge: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). In a small bowl, whisk 1 large egg yolk with 1 tablespoon of water for an egg wash until well combined. Brush the edges of each pastry square with this wash.
- Bake to Golden Perfection: Arrange the danishes on a parchment-lined baking sheet, leaving space between them. Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed, deeply golden brown, and the filling is set.
Notes
