  • 50g (1.75oz) Cheddar Cheese, shredded
  • 1 Small Jalapeño, diced (seeds removed)
  • 1 tbsp (15g) Cilantro, chopped
  • 1/4 tsp (1g) Smoked Paprika
  • 100g (3/4 cup) Panko Breadcrumbs
  • 2 tbsp (30ml) Vegetable Oil for frying
  • 2 tbsp (30g) Plain Yogurt
  • 1 tsp (5ml) Lime Juice
  • 1 tsp (5g) Lime Zest
  • Cilantro Leaves, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Make Cheese Center: Combine cream cheese, cheddar, jalapeño, cilantro, paprika, and salt; chill for 10 minutes.
  2. Prepare Okra Batter: Whisk flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper. Add egg, water, and oil; fold in okra.
  3. Assemble Patties: Divide batter, flatten, fill with cheese, and seal.
  4. Coat in Panko: Press patties into panko breadcrumbs.
  5. Fry to Perfection: Fry in oil until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Rest and Drain: Drain on paper towels and rest for 5 minutes.
