Ingredients
Scale
- 12–16 dumplings (fresh, frozen, or homemade dough)
- 6 cups broth or stock (chicken, vegetable, or miso)
- 2–3 cups mixed vegetables (bok choy, cabbage, carrots, mushrooms, leeks, or green beans)
- 1 lb protein (chicken breast or thighs, ground turkey, shrimp, or tofu)
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp curry paste
- 2 tbsp miso paste
- 1 cup coconut milk or cream
- Optional toppings: sliced scallions, chili oil drizzle, sesame seeds
Instructions
- Prepare the broth: In a large pot, simmer 6 cups of chicken stock, vegetable broth, or miso base with garlic, ginger, and soy sauce.
- Add vegetables: Stir in bok choy, cabbage, mushrooms, carrots, or leeks. Cook until tender but not mushy.
- Drop or add dumplings: Place dumplings into the simmering broth. If frozen, cook 8–10 minutes. For homemade, drop spoonfuls of dough.
- Cook protein: Add chicken, shrimp, turkey, or tofu. Ensure proteins are cooked through before serving.
- Flavor boost: Stir in coconut milk for Thai flavor, curry paste for spice, or add noodles for a ramen-style dumpling soup.
- Simmer gently: Cook 8–12 minutes until dumplings float and are tender. Avoid overcooking.
- Serve hot: Garnish with scallions, chili oil, or sesame seeds before serving.
Notes
For gluten-free, use rice-flour dumplings. Store broth and dumplings separately to prevent sogginess. Freeze dumplings and broth in separate containers for longer storage.
