Description
A smoky paprika and zesty lime seasoning blend that elevates standard french fries to restaurant quality. This simple five-minute recipe provides a complex flavor profile for homemade fries.
Ingredients
Scale
- 60 g (1/4 cup) smoked paprika (sweet or mild)
- 30 g (2 tablespoons) granulated garlic powder
- 15 g (1 tablespoon) granulated onion powder
- 10 g (2 teaspoons) light brown sugar, packed
- 15 g (1 tablespoon) fine sea salt
- 5 g (1 teaspoon) freshly ground black pepper
- 1 large lime, zested (for after cooking)
Instructions
- Mix Dry Ingredients: Combine paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, brown sugar, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Whisk to break up any clumps.
- Prepare Fries: Cook french fries according to instructions (deep-fried, air-fried, or oven-baked). Drain excess oil and transfer immediately to a large mixing bowl while still hot.
- Season Fries: Sprinkle 1-2 tablespoons of the seasoning blend over the hot fries. Toss gently but quickly to ensure even coating. The heat helps the brown sugar adhere the spices.
- Add Zest and Serve: Add half of the fresh lime zest to the seasoned fries and toss again. Serve immediately, garnishing with the remaining zest.
Notes
For best results, apply seasoning post-cooking while fries are hot. Use granulated powders to avoid clumping. Reduce salt if fries are pre-salted. Only zest the green part of the lime peel to avoid bitterness.
