- 30ml (2Tbsp) ketchup
- 15ml (1Tbsp) Worcestershire sauce, halal-certified
- 15ml (1Tbsp) Dijon mustard
- 15g (1Tbsp) brown sugar
- 2g (1tsp) smoked paprika
- 1g (½ tsp) chili powder
- 3g (½ tsp) salt
- 1g (¼ tsp) black pepper
- 150g (5.3oz) provolone cheese, shredded
- 200g (7oz) hamburger buns, 4 large
- 15ml (1Tbsp) chipotle mayo, optional
- 5g (1Tbsp) parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Prep Vegetables: Dice onion and bell peppers, mince garlic.
- Sauté Aromatics: Sauté onion and peppers in oil for 5-6 minutes.
- Bloom Garlic: Cook garlic for 30 seconds.
- Brown Beef: Brown ground beef, drain excess fat.
- Simmer Sauce: Combine sauce ingredients and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Toast Buns: Toast bun halves until golden.
- Assemble Joes: Layer beef, cheese, and top bun.
- Rest & Serve: Let rest for 2 minutes before serving.
Notes
For a richer flavor, use a cast iron skillet. Toasting the buns prevents sogginess. Feel free to adjust spice levels to your preference.
