ground turkey recipe ideas Honey Sriracha Meatballs
- Total Time: 34 minutes
- Yield: 24–30 meatballs (about 5 servings) 1x
- Diet: General
Description
These Honey Sriracha Meatballs feature lean ground turkey seasoned with garlic and ginger, seared to golden perfection, and coated in a vibrant sweet and spicy glaze. They make for a flavorful and hearty main course, perfect for weeknight dinners.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground turkey
- 0.5 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1 large egg
- 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced
- 1 Tbsp fresh ginger, grated
- 0.25 cup honey
- 2–4 Tbsp sriracha
- 2 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
- 1 Tbsp olive oil (for searing)
Instructions
- Mix Meatball Ingredients: In a large bowl, gently combine the ground turkey, panko, egg, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Mix just until combined; overmixing makes meatballs tough. The mixture should feel moist but hold its shape.
- Form Meatballs: Form the mixture into 1-inch (2.5 cm) meatballs, yielding about 24-30. Lightly wetting your hands prevents sticking, ensuring smooth, perfectly round shapes.
- Sear Meatballs: Heat 1 Tbsp olive oil in a large 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat. Brown meatballs in batches until golden, about 2-3 minutes per side. If the pan looks crowded, cook in two batches to ensure a proper sear, not steam.
- Prepare Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, sriracha, soy sauce, and sesame oil until well combined and smooth.
- Simmer and Coat: Return all browned meatballs to the skillet. Pour the prepared glaze over them, stirring gently to coat each meatball thoroughly. Simmer for 5-7 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the meatballs beautifully, reaching an internal temperature of 165 F (74 C).
Notes
For dietary needs, use gluten-free panko/tamari, almond flour for low-carb, or plant-based ground. Use fresh aromatics and quality turkey for best flavor. Avoid overmixing meatballs (makes them tough), overcrowding the pan (leads to steaming), and undercooking (ensure 165 F (74 C) internal temperature). For a milder version, reduce or omit sriracha.
