Description
This homemade Blackberry Marble Sheet Brownie recipe transforms a simple treat into something truly special, combining rich chocolate with a sweet-tart burst of blackberries. It’s a quick, wholesome, family-friendly dessert perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1.75 cups granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 0.75 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 1 cup fresh or frozen blackberries
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 0.25 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp lemon juice
Instructions
- Preheat Oven & Prepare Pan: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang.
- Melt Butter: Melt butter in a large saucepan over medium-low heat until just melted and fragrant (about 2 minutes). Remove from heat.
- Combine Sugar: Stir in granulated sugar until well combined and smooth (about 1 minute).
- Add Eggs & Vanilla: Whisk in eggs one at a time until thoroughly incorporated and glossy. Then stir in vanilla extract.
- Fold Dry Ingredients: Fold in cocoa powder, flour, and salt until just combined, avoiding overmixing.
- Prepare Cream Cheese Swirl: In a separate small bowl, beat softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and lemon juice until smooth and creamy.
- Layer Batter & Blackberries (First): Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Dot with half of the blackberries.
- Layer Cream Cheese & Blackberries (Second): Spoon dollops of the cream cheese mixture over the batter. Add the remaining brownie batter and dot with remaining blackberries.
- Create Marble Swirl: Use a knife or skewer to gently swirl the mixtures for a beautiful marbled effect, being careful not to overmix.
- Bake & Cool: Bake for 25-30 minutes, until edges are set but the center is slightly moist (aim for moist crumbs). Cool completely before slicing and serving.
Notes
For fudgy brownies, avoid overmixing the batter and do not overbake (aim for moist crumbs, not a clean toothpick). Frozen blackberries work well without thawing. Consider using organic eggs and high-quality cocoa powder for best results. A gluten-free all-purpose blend can be swapped for dietary needs. Kids can help with the swirling step.
