Description
Transform ground turkey into incredibly juicy, flavorful grilled burgers. This easy recipe uses a signature seasoning blend for a hearty, healthier meal perfect for any night.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1.5 lbs ground turkey (approx. 680g)
- 1 tbsp olive oil (15ml)
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce (15ml)
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (50g)
- 1 egg
- Salt & freshly ground black pepper
- 1 tbsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Turkey Mixture: In a large bowl, gently combine the ground turkey, olive oil, Worcestershire sauce, breadcrumbs, egg, salt, pepper, and all ingredients for our signature seasoning blend. Mix just until combined; avoid overmixing.
- Form the Patties: Divide the mixture into 4-6 equal portions. Form each into a 3/4-inch (approx. 2 cm) thick patty. Make a shallow thumbprint in the center of each patty.
- Preheat the Grill: Preheat your gas or charcoal grill to medium-high heat (around 400°F / 200°C). Lightly oil the grill grates to prevent sticking. (Alternatively, pan-fry or bake as described in the article).
- Grill the Juicy Turkey Burgers: Place patties on the preheated grill. Cook for 5-7 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). Resist pressing down on the burgers.
- Rest and Serve: Remove from the grill and let the burgers rest for 5 minutes. Serve immediately on your favorite buns with desired toppings.
Notes
- Quality & Seasonality: Use 93% lean ground turkey. Fresh herbs or finely minced fresh garlic/onion can enhance flavor.
- Storage: Cooked burgers will last 3-4 days in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Cooked or uncooked patties can be frozen for up to 3 months.
- Reheating: Reheat cooked patties gently in a microwave, oven (300°F/150°C for 10-15 min), or skillet over medium-low heat to prevent drying out.
- Allergy/Dietary Notes: For gluten-free, use gluten-free breadcrumbs or certified gluten-free oats as a binder. Serve on GF buns or lettuce wraps. For dairy-free, ensure your buns and any optional cheese are dairy-free. For low-sodium, reduce added salt and choose low-sodium Worcestershire sauce.
- Technique Upgrades: Don’t overmix, use the thumbprint trick, and allow resting time for maximum juiciness.
- Texture Control: If your mixture feels too wet, add an extra tablespoon of breadcrumbs. If too dry, a splash more olive oil or Worcestershire sauce can help.
