Description
This microwave fudge recipe creates a vibrant, creamy two-tone dessert with distinct layers of rich chocolate and sweet strawberry. It’s a quick and easy solution for busy families, coming together in minutes with minimal effort.
Ingredients
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 1.5 cups (255g) chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk)
- 1.5 cups (255g) white chocolate chips
- 4 Tbsp (56g) unsalted butter, divided
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1–2 tsp strawberry extract or flavoring
- A few drops red food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare Your Pan: Line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, ensuring an overhang for easy lifting.
- Create the Chocolate Layer: In a medium microwave-safe bowl, combine half of the can of sweetened condensed milk, 1.5 cups chocolate chips, and 2 Tbsp butter. Microwave on high for 60-90 seconds, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth and glossy. Stir in 1 tsp vanilla extract. (If dry, add 1-2 tsp more condensed milk and stir).
- Pour Chocolate: Spread the melted chocolate mixture evenly into your prepared pan, working quickly as it will start to set.
- Prepare the Strawberry Layer: In a separate microwave-safe bowl, combine the remaining half can of sweetened condensed milk, 1.5 cups white chocolate chips, and 2 Tbsp butter. Microwave on high for 60-90 seconds, stirring every 30 seconds until completely melted and smooth. Stir in 1-2 tsp strawberry extract and a few drops of red food coloring until a vibrant pink hue is reached.
- Add Strawberry: Carefully pour the strawberry mixture over the chocolate layer, distributing gently to cover and maintain distinct layers.
- Swirl (Optional): For a ribbon effect, use a butter knife or skewer to gently swirl the two layers together (do not overmix).
- Chill & Set: Place the pan in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or until the fudge is completely firm to the touch.
- Slice & Serve: Use the parchment paper overhang to lift the fudge from the pan. Cut into small, bite-sized squares using a sharp knife.
Notes
For dietary alternatives, use sugar-free chocolate chips for lower sugar, or dairy-free sweetened condensed milk for vegan needs. Enhance flavor with a pinch of flaky sea salt, or garnish with sprinkles or freeze-dried strawberry powder. Swap strawberry extract for peppermint or orange for different flavor profiles, or add chopped nuts to the chocolate layer for crunch. If fudge is too soft, it needs more chilling time. A grainy texture indicates overheating the chocolate; melt slowly and stir often to prevent scorching.
