Description
A healthy, creamy pear smoothie featuring fresh pears and warm spices. A spiced date caramel swirl adds natural sweetness for a high-protein breakfast or snack.

- 2 medium pears, cored and roughly chopped
- 1/2 cup plain yogurt (dairy or non-dairy)
- 1/2 cup milk (dairy or plant-based)
- 6–8 ice cubes (about 100g)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 large Medjool dates, pitted and roughly chopped (for caramel)
- 1/4 cup hot water (for caramel)
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for caramel)
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger (optional, for caramel)
- 1 pinch fine sea salt (for caramel)
Instructions
- Soften Dates: Place the pitted dates in a heatproof bowl. Pour hot water over them and let soak for 5 minutes to soften.
- Make Caramel Swirl: Transfer the dates and soaking water to a high-speed blender. Add cinnamon, ginger, and salt, blending until smooth and thick. Add more hot water, 1 tablespoon at a time, if the caramel is too thick. Reserve 2 tablespoons of caramel for assembly.
- Blend Smoothie Base: Combine the pears, yogurt, milk, vanilla extract, and ice cubes in the same blender. Blend on high speed for 1-2 minutes until exceptionally smooth and creamy.
- Assemble and Serve: Pipe or swirl the reserved date caramel around the inside walls of two clear glasses. Carefully pour the smoothie into the glasses. Drizzle the remaining caramel over the top and serve immediately.
Notes
Use ripe Bosc or Anjou pears for the best flavor and texture. For a thicker smoothie, use pre-frozen pear slices instead of fresh pears and reduce or eliminate the ice cubes. The date caramel can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
