Description

Classic Pepperidge Farm stuffing recipe with broth, butter, and herbs—perfect for holidays, casseroles, or cozy weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bag Pepperidge Farm Stuffing Mix (herb seasoned, cornbread, or cubes) – the seasoned bread cubes that give structure and flavor.
  • ½ cup (1 stick) butter or ¼ cup olive oil – keeps the stuffing moist and adds richness.
  • 1 medium onion, 2 celery stalks, 1 carrot (all finely chopped) – the aromatic base.
  • 2 ½ to 3 cups chicken broth or vegetable broth – provides moisture and flavor; adjust depending on texture preference.
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten – help bind the stuffing together (optional).
  • ½ cup dried cranberries
  • 1 diced apple + ¼ cup raisins
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • Spinach, zucchini, or broccoli for casserole-style twists.
  • 2 cups diced cooked chicken breast, ground beef, or vegetarian option with extra veggies and stock.

Instructions

  1. Base Prep: Melt butter in a skillet. Add onion, celery, and carrot. Sauté for 5–7 minutes until softened and aromatic.
  2. Mix Dry and Wet: Place stuffing cubes or mix in a large bowl. Pour in broth and add the sautéed vegetables. Stir gently until evenly moistened.
  3. Binding (Optional): Fold in eggs if you prefer a firmer texture. For a looser stuffing, skip the eggs.
  4. Bake: Transfer to a greased 9×13 dish, cover with foil, and bake at 350°F for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake another 10–15 minutes until golden.
  5. Crockpot Method: Add mixture to a slow cooker, cover, and cook on LOW for 3–4 hours.
  6. Variations: Use homemade bread cubes for copycat, cornbread mix for Southern twist, layer with chicken for casserole, or use veggie stock and mushrooms for vegetarian.
