This easy Seafood Boil with Garlic Butter offers comforting, flavorful seafood, corn, potatoes, and sausage, perfect for a hearty family dinner with surprisingly little fuss.

- 1 lb large raw shrimp, peeled
- 1.5 lbs snow crab legs, optional
- 12 oz smoked sausage, beef or turkey, sliced
- 4 ears corn on the cob, halved
- 1.5 lbs baby red potatoes, halved
- 1 head garlic (8–10 cloves), minced
- 1 cup unsalted butter (plant-based butter works for dairy-free)
- 3.5 Tbsp Old Bay Seasoning (or similar blend)
- 2 lemons, halved
- 4 cups chicken or vegetable broth
- 4 cups water
Instructions
- Prep Ingredients: Rinse vegetables, thaw frozen seafood under cold water, and mince garlic.
- Boil Broth: In a large stockpot, combine broth, 4 cups water, and Old Bay seasoning. Bring to a rolling boil over high heat.
- Cook Potatoes And Sausage: Add halved baby red potatoes and sliced smoked sausage. Simmer for 10-15 minutes, until potatoes are fork-tender.
- Add Corn And Seafood: Stir in corn, then add shrimp and crab legs. Simmer for 3-5 minutes until shrimp are pink and opaque and crab is heated through.
- Make Garlic Butter: Melt butter in a small saucepan. Add minced garlic and a squeeze of fresh lemon. Simmer gently for 2 minutes over low heat until fragrant.
- Serve The Boil: Drain the cooking liquid. Pour the warm garlic butter directly over the seafood and vegetables. Toss to coat and serve immediately.
Notes
Consider using certified gluten-free sausage or plant-based butter for dietary needs. For convenience, use pre-minced garlic or pre-cooked shrimp (add last 1-2 minutes). Adjust spice with cayenne, or make it lighter with less butter and more lemon juice. Other seafood like mussels or clams can be added.
