Description

This Sheet-Pan BBQ Chicken with Honey Garlic offers a magical dinner solution, delivering big flavor with minimal fuss for busy weeknights. Featuring tender chicken and a sticky-sweet sauce, it is an easy and wholesome comfort food that consistently receives rave reviews.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts
  • 0.25 cup (60 ml) honey
  • 4 cloves fresh minced garlic
  • 0.5 cup (120 ml) BBQ sauce
  • 2 Tbsp (30 ml) soy sauce
  • 3 cups broccoli florets, bell peppers, or sliced onions (optional veggies)
  • 1 Tbsp oil (for veggies, optional)
  • Salt (for veggies, optional)
  • Pepper (for veggies, optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Chicken & Sauce: Pat chicken dry thoroughly with paper towels. Whisk together 0.25 cup honey, 4 cloves minced garlic, 0.5 cup BBQ sauce, and 2 Tbsp soy sauce in a large bowl.
  2. Marinate Chicken: Add the chicken to the bowl and toss to coat evenly. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes at room temperature, or up to 2 hours in the fridge for deeper flavor absorption.
  3. Preheat Oven & Line Pan: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a large, sturdy sheet pan (13×18-inch pan) with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  4. Arrange & Season: Spread the marinated chicken in a single layer on the prepared sheet pan, ensuring pieces are not touching. If adding veggies, toss them lightly with 1 Tbsp oil, salt, and pepper, then arrange them around the chicken.
  5. Roast Chicken & Veggies: Roast for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway, until chicken is cooked through (165°F/74°C internal temperature) and sauce is bubbly and caramelized. (If sauce looks dry, splash 1-2 Tbsp water).
  6. Glaze & Serve: For an extra sticky glaze, brush the chicken with a little more warmed BBQ sauce or leftover (uncontaminated) marinade during the last 5 minutes of cooking. Serve immediately.

Notes

For a spicier kick, stir a pinch of red pepper flakes into the sauce. For a lighter version, opt for boneless, skinless chicken breast and extra non-starchy vegetables. Choose a milder BBQ sauce for kid-friendly meals. Avoid overcrowding the pan, which can lead to soggy chicken; use two sheet pans if needed. Do not skip the parchment paper for easier cleanup.
