shrimp in air fryer recipe

  • Author: Liana Brooks
  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x
  • Diet: general

Description

A high-heat air fryer technique creates perfectly juicy shrimp with crispy edges. This quick recipe features a creamy, spicy-sweet Sriracha glaze for a fast and healthy weeknight meal or appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 450g large shrimp (21/25 count), peeled and deveined
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt
  • 1/8 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp Sriracha sauce
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 2 tsp fresh lime juice
  • 1 tsp water (optional, to thin glaze)
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prep and Season Shrimp: Pat the thawed shrimp thoroughly dry with paper towels. Toss the dried shrimp in a bowl with olive oil, salt, pepper, and garlic powder until evenly coated.
  2. Air Fry Shrimp: Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 5 minutes. Arrange the shrimp in a single layer in the basket, ensuring not to overcrowd. Air fry for 8–10 minutes, shaking halfway through, until shrimp turn pink and opaque.
  3. Prepare Glaze: While the shrimp cook, whisk together the mayonnaise, Sriracha sauce, honey, and fresh lime juice in a small bowl. Add water as needed to reach desired consistency.
  4. Toss and Serve: Transfer the warm, cooked shrimp to a clean bowl. Pour the prepared glaze over the shrimp and toss gently to coat. Serve immediately, garnished with fresh cilantro.

Notes

For best results, pat shrimp completely dry before seasoning to prevent steaming. Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket; cook in batches if necessary. Be careful not to overcook the shrimp, as they cook very quickly.
