Description

These honey-glazed Sister Schubert rolls transform ordinary frozen dinner rolls into a special treat with minimal effort, offering a golden, tender texture and an irresistible sweet pan shine. Perfect for busy weeknights or cozy holiday meals, they are a versatile family favorite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1215 count Frozen Sister Schubert’s Dinner Yeast Rolls
  • 0.25 cup Unsalted Butter
  • 2 tablespoons Honey
  • tiny pinch Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon finely chopped fresh herbs (rosemary or thyme), optional
  • 0.25 teaspoon Garlic powder, optional
  • 1 teaspoon Brown sugar, optional
  • 0.25 cup Plant-based butter, for dairy-free option

Instructions

  1. Thaw And Arrange: Place frozen Sister Schubert rolls in a baking dish (a 9×13 inch pan is great for a dozen rolls). Allow them to thaw at room temperature for 30-60 minutes, until they feel slightly soft and are starting to rise, visibly puffing up.
  2. Prepare Glaze: In a small saucepan, melt 0.25 cup butter with 2 tablespoons honey and a tiny pinch of salt over low heat. Stir gently until combined and warm, ensuring no sugar crystals remain.
  3. First Brush: Gently brush about half of the warm honey-butter glaze over the rolls, ensuring an even coating on each.
  4. Bake To Golden: Preheat your oven to 350F (175C). Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown and beautifully puffed up.
  5. Second Shine And Serve: Remove the pan from the oven. Immediately brush the remaining honey-butter glaze over the hot rolls. Serve them warm for the best experience.

Notes

For low-carb: Consider a sugar-free maple syrup alternative in the glaze. For vegan: Use plant-based butter and agave nectar or a vegan honey alternative. If rolls brown too fast, cover loosely with foil. If still doughy, bake longer. Enjoy with spring honey, fresh garden herbs, or alongside fall squash dishes.
