These Smoked Turkey and Cheese Pinwheels with Sun-Dried Tomato Pesto Swirl are an easy and impressive appetizer. Flaky puff pastry is filled with savory turkey, cheddar, and a vibrant sun-dried tomato pesto for a delightful combination of flavors and textures.

- 275g puff pastry (1 sheet)
- 150g smoked turkey breast, sliced
- 100g cheddar cheese, shredded
- 50g cream cheese, softened
- 30g sun-dried tomatoes in oil, drained and chopped
- 1 tbsp fresh basil, minced
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 5ml olive oil (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 large egg, beaten
- Fresh basil leaves, for garnish
- Shaved Parmesan cheese, for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare Oven & Sheet: Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Make Pesto: Combine cream cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, basil, garlic, and olive oil; season with salt and pepper.
- Prepare Pastry: Gently roll out puff pastry on a floured surface.
- Layer Turkey: Arrange turkey evenly over pastry, leaving a border.
- Add Cheese & Pesto: Sprinkle cheese over turkey, then spread pesto down the center.
- Roll & Seal: Roll pastry tightly into a log, sealing the edge with water.
- Cut Pinwheels: Cut log into 12 pinwheels and place seam-side down on the sheet.
- Bake: Brush with egg wash and bake for 15-18 minutes, until golden brown.
- Cool & Garnish: Cool slightly, then garnish with basil and Parmesan.
Notes
For best results, keep puff pastry cold. Feel free to substitute turkey with ham or chicken.
