Description
This Tahini Sauce is a creamy, garlicky, and zesty dressing that’s easy to make, healthy, and versatile. It adds a bright, silky texture and vibrant flavor to any meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 0.5 cup (120 g) tahini
- 0.25 cup (60 ml) fresh lemon juice
- 2 to 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced
- 0.25 to 0.5 cup (60 to 120 ml) cold water
- 0.5 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Prep Your Garlic: Finely mince the fresh garlic cloves for even distribution and optimal flavor release.
- Combine the Basics: In a medium bowl, whisk together the tahini, fresh lemon juice, and minced garlic until thick and pasty.
- Gradually Add Water: Slowly add 1 to 2 tablespoons of ice-cold water at a time, whisking vigorously after each addition until the mixture loosens, lightens, and transforms into a smooth, pourable consistency that coats the back of a spoon. If lumpy, add another tablespoon of lemon juice before continuing with water.
- Season to Taste: Stir in the salt. Taste the sauce and adjust lemon, garlic, or salt as needed until the flavor is bright and balanced.
- Serve or Store: Enjoy the tahini sauce immediately, or store it for later use.
Notes
For best results, use high-quality, runny tahini and fresh lemon juice. Cold water helps emulsify the sauce; if it looks lumpy, add more lemon juice, then continue with water. An immersion blender ensures a silky smooth texture. This sauce is naturally oil-free, gluten-free, and vegan. For lower sodium, start with less salt. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
