  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound ground turkey or beef
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 32 oz marinara sauce
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese
  • 3/4 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Kosher salt to taste
  • Ground black pepper to taste
  • Chopped fresh basil for garnish

Instructions

  1. Step: Preheat the oven to 375°F and spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
  2. Step: Boil a large pot of salted water, cook pasta until al dente, drain, and toss with a little olive oil.
  3. Step: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the meat until browned, add garlic for the last minute, and drain excess fat.
  4. Step: In a medium bowl, combine ricotta, egg, 3/4 cup mozzarella, 1/2 cup Parmesan, basil, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  5. Step: Reserve 1/2 cup of marinara sauce, then toss the remaining sauce, cooked meat, and ricotta mixture with the pasta.
  6. Step: Spread the reserved 1/2 cup sauce in the baking dish, layer half the pasta mixture, half the remaining cheese, and repeat.
  7. Step: Bake for 25-30 minutes until the cheese is melted and golden brown.
  8. Step: Garnish with fresh basil and serve warm.
