Ingredients
Scale
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 2 teaspoons sweet paprika
- 1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 3/4 teaspoons onion powder
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 4 salmon fillets (about 1 1/4 lbs)
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon parsley, chopped
- parsley sprigs and lemon wedges for garnish
Instructions
- Step: Place the smoked paprika, sweet paprika, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, brown sugar, black pepper, thyme, oregano, basil and cayenne pepper in a small bowl and stir until thoroughly combined.
- Step: Brush the melted butter all over the top of the salmon fillets and sprinkle the seasoning mix over the top, using your hands to press the spices into the fish.
- Step: Heat a cast iron skillet over high heat and brush the skillet with vegetable oil.
- Step: Place the salmon in the skillet and cook skin side up for 3-4 minutes or until a dark brown crust forms.
- Step: Carefully flip the salmon, reduce the heat to medium high, and cook for an additional 7-8 minutes or until the fish flakes easily with a fork and is opaque.
- Step: Sprinkle with chopped parsley and serve garnished with fresh lemon wedges and parsley sprigs.
Notes
Ensure salmon fillets are of similar thickness for even cooking. Cast iron is recommended for the best crust. Store leftover spice blend in an airtight container for future use.
