Description

A heartwarming and cheesy Italian-American pasta bake featuring smooth ziti pasta, a rich ground beef tomato sauce, and a bubbly blend of mozzarella and parmesan cheeses.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ziti Pasta
  • 1 lb Ground Beef
  • 1 medium Onion (diced)
  • 2 clove Garlic (minced)
  • 28 ounce Crushed Tomato
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • 10 Fresh Basil Leaves
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream
  • 2 cup Mozzarella Cheese (grated)
  • ⅓ cup Parmesan Cheese
  • 1 tsp Italian Seasoning
  • 1 tsp Red Pepper Flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Step: Boil salt water in large pot, cook ziti until al dente, drain the water and set aside.
  2. Step: Preheat oven to 350℉ or 175℃.
  3. Step: Over medium-high heat cook ground beef and onion until the beef is browned and cook through. Add minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  4. Step: Add crushed tomato, italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, salt, and sugar. Simmer for 10 minutes. Add heavy cream and basil then stir until combined.
  5. Step: Transfer the pasta to the pan and stir until well combined.
  6. Step: Place half of the pasta to the casserole dish, sprinkle it with half of mozzarella, and parmesan then add the remaining pasta and sprinkle it with remaining mozzarella and parmesan.
  7. Step: Bake for 25 minutes. Sprinkle it with chopped basil and serve.

Notes

If you cannot find ziti pasta, rigatoni or penne are suitable alternatives. Use lean ground beef to minimize excess grease in the final dish.
