Description

These classic stuffed peppers are filled with a savory mixture of ground meat, rice, and spices, topped with melted cheese for a delicious meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large bell peppers (any color)
  • 1 pound ground beef or turkey
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 can (15 ounces) diced tomatoes, drained
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare Peppers: Cut the tops off the bell peppers and remove the seeds and membranes. Place the peppers upright in a baking dish.
  3. Brown Meat: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef or turkey. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, then drain any excess fat.
  4. Sauté Aromatics: Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and sauté until the onion is translucent.
  5. Mix Filling: Stir in the cooked rice, diced tomatoes, Italian seasoning, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until heated through.
  6. Stuff: Carefully spoon the meat mixture into each bell pepper until they are filled to the top.
  7. Top with Cheese: Sprinkle shredded cheese on top of each stuffed pepper.
  8. Bake: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  9. Finish Baking: Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the peppers are tender and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  10. Garnish: Remove from the oven, let cool for a few minutes, and garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

For variations, try adding different vegetables to the meat mixture or using different types of cheese on top.
