Description

Delicious Crispy Shrimp Tacos packed with flavor, using red cabbage, avocado, Panko breading, and a spicy, tangy yogurt sauce that has some kick! You will love this spin on the fish taco.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 9 ounces raw jumbo shrimp (peeled, deveined, tail removed)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 3/4 cup Panko bread crumbs
  • Oil for frying
  • 1/4 cup plain (Greek) yogurt
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon chipotle chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 6 small corn tortillas
  • 1/2 cup shredded red cabbage
  • 1 diced avocado
  • Chopped cilantro

Instructions

  1. Step: Set up a work station with 3 bowls. One for flour mixed with salt and pepper, beaten eggs in another bowl, and Panko bread crumbs in a third bowl.
  2. Step: Heat the frying oil in a small skillet to about 350°F (180°C).
  3. Step: Dredge shrimp in flour, shake off excess, dip in egg, then coat with Panko crumbs from both sides.
  4. Step: Working in batches, fry the shrimp until golden and crispy (1-2 minutes per side). If the oil isn’t covering the entire shrimp, flip them halfway through.
  5. Step: Place on paper towel to drain.
  6. Step: Stir all ingredients for the spicy yogurt sauce together until combined.
  7. Step: Fill warmed tortillas with shredded cabbage, avocado dices, and about 3 crispy shrimp each. Drizzle with yogurt sauce and top with chopped cilantro.

Notes

Use an instant-read thermometer to ensure the oil is at the ideal temperature. If you prefer to use an air fryer, cook at 400°F for 4-8 minutes, spraying with oil halfway through.
