  4. Step: In a small bowl, mix the cream of mushroom soup with milk until smooth.
  5. Step: Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  6. Step: Layer half of the sliced potatoes evenly in the bottom of the dish.
  7. Step: Spread half of the cooked ground beef mixture over the potatoes.
  8. Step: Pour half of the soup mixture evenly over the beef layer.
  9. Step: Sprinkle one cup of shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
  10. Step: Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, beef, soup mixture, and finish with the remaining cheese.
  11. Step: Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil.
  12. Step: Bake for 45 minutes.
  13. Step: Remove the foil and bake an additional 15 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is golden and bubbly.
  14. Step: Let the casserole rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
  15. Step: Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.

Notes

Ensure potatoes are sliced to approximately 1/8 inch thickness to guarantee even cooking. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
