Description
Crockpot BBQ chicken that’s tender, tangy, and effortless. Perfect for weeknights, meal prep, or family dinners with just 10 minutes of prep.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3.5 lbs (1.5 kg) boneless skinless chicken breast
- 2 cups BBQ sauce
- 1/4 cup (60 g) light or dark brown sugar, packed
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
Instructions
- Make the Sauce Base: In the slow cooker, combine BBQ sauce, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and crushed red pepper. Stir until well mixed.
- Add the Chicken: Place the chicken breasts into the sauce mixture. Use a spoon to coat each piece thoroughly.
- Cook Until Tender: Cover and cook on low for 6–7 hours or high for 3–4 hours, until the chicken is fork-tender and easy to shred.
- Shred the Chicken: Use two forks to shred the chicken directly in the slow cooker. Make sure it’s pulled into bite-sized pieces.
- Mix and Serve: Stir the shredded chicken back into the sauce until fully coated. Serve hot in sandwiches, bowls, or wraps.
Notes
For a juicier result, boneless thighs can be used instead of breasts. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days, or freeze for up to 2 months.
