Description
This Fried Shrimp recipe has extra crispy breading on the outside with perfectly cooked shrimp on the inside. Serve with lemon slices and your choice of dipping sauce!

- ¾ cup sour cream
- ¼ cup milk
- 1 lb. large uncooked shrimp
- 1.5 quarts vegetable oil
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1 ½ teaspoons seasoned salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- 1 pinch cayenne
Instructions
- Prep Work: Set cooling racks over a baking sheet.
- Prep Work: Thaw shrimp completely and pat the surface dry, removing shells and veins if necessary.
- Prep Work: Combine sour cream and milk in a wide container.
- Prep Work: Add shrimp to the sour cream mixture and soak at room temperature for 10 minutes.
- Prep Work: Combine flour, panko, seasoned salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne in another wide container.
- Bread: Slide excess marinade off of the shrimp.
- Bread: Toss shrimp in the breading mixture until completely coated.
- Fry: Heat oil to 350-375° F.
- Fry: Fry the shrimp in batches for 3-4 minutes until golden-brown.
- Fry: Remove shrimp with a spider strainer and transfer to cooling racks.
Notes
Use large shrimp labeled 26/30 per pound. Crushed Cornflakes can be used instead of Panko. For baking: Bake at 400°F for 8-10 minutes. For air frying: Air fry at 390°F for 5 minutes, shake, and fry up to 5 more minutes.
