Description
Crispy Air Fryer Cod with a golden panko crust and flaky, tender center, ready in 25 minutes. A simple three-bowl breading station with Old Bay seasoning does all the work, no deep frying required.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound cod
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons old bay seasoning
- 3 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat: Preheat your air fryer.
- Prep: Pat the cod dry and set aside on a cutting board.
- Setup: Whisk eggs in one shallow bowl, put flour in a second bowl, and combine panko, old bay, Italian seasoning, cayenne, salt, and pepper in a third bowl.
- Dredge: Cut the cod into desired sizes, dip into the flour, then dip into the egg.
- Bread: Press both sides of the egg-coated cod into the seasoned panko breadcrumbs.
- Air Fry: Spray the air fryer with non-stick spray, add cod in batches, and cook at 400°F for 10 minutes.
- Flip: Gently flip the fish and cook for another 5 minutes until it reaches 145°F.
- Serve: Optionally sprinkle more seasoning on top and serve.
Notes
Use panko for the crispiest crust. Do not skip the flour layer. Pat the fish completely dry to prevent the coating from sliding. Cook in batches to maintain airflow. Reheat in air fryer at 350°F for 3-4 minutes.
