  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breast, cut into 2-inch pieces
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • Olive oil spray
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
  • 5 tablespoons brown sugar substitute
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon grated garlic
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon cold water
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Step: Preheat the air fryer to 400°F for 5 minutes.
  2. Step: Season chicken breasts with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  3. Step: Toss the chicken in cornstarch until evenly coated.
  4. Step: Place chicken in the air fryer basket and spray with olive oil.
  5. Step: Cook for 3–4 minutes, flip the pieces, and cook for another 5 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Step: Combine orange zest, orange juice, brown sugar substitute, maple syrup, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, garlic, ginger, and onion powder in a small pot.
  7. Step: Bring the sauce to a boil over medium-high heat and cook for 4–5 minutes until reduced.
  8. Step: Whisk cornstarch and water together, then stir into the sauce and cook for 1 minute until thickened.
  9. Step: Remove sauce from heat, transfer to a large bowl, and toss with the cooked chicken.
  10. Step: Place on a serving platter and serve with rice.

Notes

Use coconut aminos instead of soy sauce for a soy-free version. Ensure the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F for safety.
