Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1/4 cup chopped onion
- 1/4 cup chopped green or red bell pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon prepared yellow mustard
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup barbecue sauce
- 3 teaspoons brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- salt to taste
- ground black pepper to taste
- 6 hamburger buns, toasted and buttered
Instructions
- Step 1: Cook the ground beef, onion, and bell pepper in a skillet over medium-high heat until the beef is cooked and the vegetables are softened. Drain off liquids.
- Step 2: Stir in the garlic powder, mustard, ketchup, barbecue sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar. Mix well.
- Step 3: Reduce heat, and simmer for 30 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
- Step 4: Place onto toasted and buttered buns and enjoy!
Notes
Use lean ground beef (85/15) to reduce grease. Brown the meat well. If the sauce is too dry, add more BBQ sauce, ketchup, or water. For slow cooker: Brown beef first, then cook on LOW for 4-6 hours or HIGH for 2-3 hours.
