Homemade Chicken Taco Seasoning

Homemade Chicken Taco Seasoning

  • Author: AlmaHerzog

  • Yield: 2 servings 1x
  • Diet: Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free, Keto, Paleo, Whole30

Description

A smoky, savory spice blend made specifically for chicken — eight pantry spices whisked together in two minutes. It skips the fillers, added sugar, and high cost of store-bought packets, and you control the salt and heat. Use it on chicken breast, thighs, or ground poultry (and it is just as good on shrimp, fish, or roasted veggies). Naturally gluten-free, dairy-free, keto, paleo, and Whole30-friendly.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1½ tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp dried oregano
  • ¾ tsp fine sea salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ⅛ tsp cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Step: Add all spices to a small bowl.
  2. Step: Whisk until fully and evenly combined.
  3. Step: Use 2–3 tablespoons per pound of poultry, or transfer to an airtight jar for later.

Notes

This single batch seasons about 1 pound of chicken. For ground poultry, add a ½ teaspoon of cornstarch and ¼ cup water for a saucier, packet-style finish. Store in a cool, dark place for up to 6 months.
