Description

Taco Bell Chalupa Supreme is a delicious and fast food favorite menu item featuring chewy flatbread loaded with beef, cheddar cheese, lettuce and ripe tomatoes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/2 cups All Purpose Flour
  • 1 Tablespoons Baking Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 Tablespoons Vegetable Oil (plus more for Frying)
  • 1 Cup Milk
  • 1 pound Ground Beef
  • 1 small Onion, chopped
  • 2 Tablespoons Taco Seasoning
  • 1/4 cup Salsa
  • 1/4 cup Water
  • 1/2 cup Sour Cream
  • 2 cups Shredded Lettuce
  • 2 cups Shredded Mexican Cheese Blend
  • 2 Tomatoes, diced

Instructions

  1. Step: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 2 cups of flour, 1 tablespoon baking powder and ½ teaspoon salt.
  2. Step: Mix in 1 tablespoon vegetable oil and gradually stir in 1 cup of milk.
  3. Step: Mix in the remaining flour (½ cup) until a dough forms and knead the dough with your hands.
  4. Step: Form the dough into a long log and cut it into 8 equal parts.
  5. Step: Form each part into a round circle on a floured surface that is approximately 6 inches across.
  6. Step: Use a fork to poke a few holes into each of the circles.
  7. Step: Heat 2 inches of the vegetable oil in a large pot until it’s approximately 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  8. Step: Place one of the disks in the hot oil and cook it for 5 seconds on each side.
  9. Step: Use tongs to gently fold the disk in half to make a taco shape, holding it in the oil to cook for 1-2 minutes per side.
  10. Step: Remove golden brown shells to a plate lined with a paper towel to soak up excess oil.
  11. Step: Brown the ground beef and chopped onion in a skillet over medium high heat and drain the excess grease.
  12. Step: Stir in the taco seasoning, salsa, and water.
  13. Step: Heat uncovered for 3-5 minutes until the flavors are combined, then remove from heat.
  14. Step: Fill each of the shells with the beef mixture.
  15. Step: Top with the sour cream, shredded lettuce, shredded cheese, and diced tomatoes.

Notes

Refrigerate leftovers separately in airtight containers for up to 5 days. It is best to use room temperature milk when making the chalupa dough.
