Ingredients
Scale
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons sugar and water mixture
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 pieces chicken thighs
- Green onions for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Step: In a bowl, mix together the soy sauce, sugar and water mixture, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger to create the marinade.
- Step: Place the chicken thighs in a zip-top bag or shallow dish, pour the marinade over the chicken, seal or cover, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight.
- Step: Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
- Step: Remove the chicken from the marinade, discard the marinade, and season the chicken with salt and pepper.
- Step: Grill the chicken thighs skin-side down for about 6-7 minutes, until nicely charred.
- Step: Flip and grill for another 6-7 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).
- Step: Let the chicken rest before serving.
Notes
Marinate longer for richer flavors. Use high heat for grilling. Ensure the chicken reaches 165°F (75°C) using a meat thermometer. Leftover marinade can be boiled for a few minutes to use as a sauce.
