- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
- 1/2 cup BBQ sauce
Instructions
- Preheat: Preheat the oven to 400°F.
- Prepare Tray: Lightly spray a baking tray with non-stick spray or line it with foil for easy cleanup.
- Mix Rub: Combine the chili powder, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, sea salt, and black pepper in a small bowl.
- Prep Chicken: Pat the chicken pieces dry with paper towels.
- Season: Rub the spice mixture over both sides of each chicken piece, pressing it in gently.
- Bake: Arrange the chicken on the prepared tray in a single layer and bake uncovered for 20 minutes.
- Glaze: Remove the tray and brush the tops of the chicken with roughly half of the BBQ sauce.
- Final Bake: Return to the oven and bake another 5 to 10 minutes.
- Rest: Take the chicken out and let it rest for about 5 minutes before slicing or serving.
Notes
Use chicken thighs for more forgiving meat that stays moist. For even cooking, choose chicken pieces of similar thickness.
