  • 4 boneless chicken breasts
  • 2 cups BBQ sauce
  • 1 can (12 oz) Dr Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 24 Hawaiian rolls
  • Optional toppings: sliced red onion, sharp cheddar cheese, extra BBQ sauce

Instructions

  1. Combine: Place chicken breasts, BBQ sauce, onion, minced garlic, and Dr Pepper into a slow cooker.
  2. Cook: Cook on low for 6–8 hours until the chicken is fully cooked and tender.
  3. Shred: Shred the chicken directly in the slow cooker and mix it well with the sauce.
  4. Assemble: Serve the shredded BBQ chicken on Hawaiian rolls and top with desired toppings.

Notes

Chicken can be cooked from frozen or thawed. You may use a hand mixer or stand mixer with a paddle attachment to easily shred the cooked chicken. Leftovers can be repurposed into quesadillas, chimichangas, or salad toppings.
