Description
A hearty and comforting all-in-one meal made easy in the slow cooker. Layers of seasoned ground beef, potatoes, and onion are smothered in a creamy soup sauce and topped with melted cheese.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1½ lbs ground beef
- 4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
- ½ cup milk or broth
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp pepper
Instructions
- Step: Brown the ground beef in a skillet. Drain all the grease.
- Step: Lightly grease your crockpot. Layer in half of the thinly sliced potatoes. Top with half of the chopped onion and half of the cooked beef. Sprinkle with half of the garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Step: Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, onion, beef, and seasonings.
- Step: In a bowl, mix the cream of mushroom soup, cream of chicken soup, milk (or broth), Worcestershire sauce, and paprika until smooth. Pour this sauce evenly over everything in the crockpot.
- Step: Cook on LOW for 6 to 8 hours, or on HIGH for about 4 hours. The casserole is done when the potatoes are soft and tender.
- Step: In the last 30 minutes of cooking, sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top. Cover the crockpot to allow the cheese to melt.
- Step: Serve.
Notes
For a different flavor, try using cream of celery or cheddar cheese soup. You can also add other vegetables like sliced carrots or celery to the layers.
