- 1 pound extra-lean ground beef
- 1 yellow onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 jars tomato sauce
- 9 sheets lasagna noodles
- 15 ounces ricotta cheese
- 3 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1 bunch fresh basil, chopped
Instructions
- Step 1: Brown 1 pound of extra-lean ground beef in a skillet over medium-high heat until no longer pink.
- Step 2: Add diced yellow onion and 3 minced garlic cloves, stirring for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
- Step 3: Season with salt and pepper, then stir in one jar of tomato sauce.
- Step 4: Spray the inside of a crockpot with cooking spray.
- Step 5: Layer meat sauce, uncooked lasagna noodles, ricotta cheese, and mozzarella cheese; repeat for three layers.
- Step 6: Pour the second jar of tomato sauce evenly over the top and sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
- Step 7: Pour approximately ½ cup of water around the edges of the lasagna.
- Step 8: Cover and cook on high for 3 hours or on low for 6 hours.
- Step 9: Let the lasagna sit for 10 minutes before serving to help layers set.
- Step 10: Garnish with freshly chopped basil or parsley.
Notes
This lasagna is perfect for meal prep and can be frozen. Use oven-ready or regular noodles, breaking them as needed to fit the crockpot.
