Description

Smoked Maple Orange Salmon is tender, flaky, and packed with sweet citrus flavor. Finished with a maple-spice glaze, this easy smoked salmon recipe stays moist and is perfect for grilling, entertaining, or meal prep.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup maple syrup
  • Zest of 2 mandarin oranges
  • 1 Tbsp Garlic herb all-purpose seasoning (Sazon)
  • 1 Tbsp seafood seasoning
  • 2 tsp Texas chili powder
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 Tbsp chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 side of salmon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the smoker: Set your smoker to 200–225°F.
  2. Make the glaze: In a bowl, whisk together the maple syrup, mandarin zest, garlic herb seasoning, seafood seasoning, chili powder, red pepper flakes, and parsley.
  3. Prep the salmon: Pat the salmon dry with paper towels and score the surface in a crosshatch pattern.
  4. Glaze: Brush a generous layer of the glaze over the top and sides of the salmon.
  5. Smoke: Place the salmon on a butcher paper-lined tray and smoke for 45–75 minutes.
  6. How to know it’s done: Use a thermometer to ensure the thickest part reaches 135–140°F for a fully cooked, juicy result.
  7. Rest + serve: Allow the salmon to rest for 5–10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Ensure the salmon is at room temperature before putting it into the smoker for even cooking. Using a mild wood like apple or cherry is recommended.
