Description

The Ground Beef Hot Honey Bowl is a quick and satisfying dinner that combines savory ground beef with a sweet and spicy hot honey glaze. It’s a flavor-packed dish that’s perfect for busy weeknights!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 to 1.5 pounds lean ground beef (85/15 or 90/10)
  • Hot honey (to taste)
  • 1 medium yellow or white onion, minced
  • 23 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1 tablespoon non-alcoholic rice cooking beverage
  • Fluffy white rice (jasmine or basmati)
  • Steamed broccoli florets, sautéed bell peppers, or roasted asparagus
  • Fresh scallions (green onions), sliced thin
  • Toasted sesame seeds
  • Fresh cilantro

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Base: Get your rice or preferred grain cooking according to package directions. If you’re steaming or roasting vegetables, start those now too.
  2. Brown the Ground Beef: Heat a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add your ground beef and cook until fully browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Sauté Aromatics: Reduce heat to medium. Add minced onion and cook for 3-5 minutes until softened. Stir in minced garlic and grated ginger, cooking for another minute until fragrant.
  4. Build the Hot Honey Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together hot honey, soy sauce, and non-alcoholic rice cooking beverage (or your substitute).
  5. Combine and Coat: Pour the hot honey sauce over the beef and aromatics in the skillet. Stir well and bring to a gentle simmer for 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken.
  6. Assemble Your Bowls: Spoon a generous portion of cooked rice into each bowl and top with the hot honey ground beef. Arrange cooked vegetables alongside.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Finish each bowl with sliced scallions, toasted sesame seeds, and fresh cilantro. Serve immediately.

Notes

Adjust the heat by varying the amount of chili flakes or sriracha. This recipe is meal prep friendly; store components separately for best texture.
