Description

Spicy Louisiana Shrimp Dip is a rich, creamy appetizer packed with bold Southern flavor and just the right amount of heat, baked until hot and bubbly in a savory sourdough bowl.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/4 cup chives or minced green onions
  • 1 red bell pepper, minced
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 8 ounces cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan Cheese
  • 12 ounces shrimp scampi
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 lemon, zested
  • 1 tablespoon cajun seasoning
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 sourdough bowl

Instructions

  1. Preheat: Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Prepare Shrimp: Defrost the shrimp, drain well and chop the shrimp into 1/2 inch dice.
  3. Combine: In a large bowl add the chives, bell pepper, mayonnaise, cream cheese, Parmesan cheese, shrimp, lemon juice and zest, cajun seasoning and Worcestershire sauce and stir until combined.
  4. Prepare Bowl: Cut the top of the sourdough loaf off the bread.
  5. Hollow Bowl: Scoop out the insides until the walls of the bread are 1/2 inch thick.
  6. Fill: Put the dip into the bread bowl.
  7. Bake: Bake in the oven for 18-20 minutes or until the mixture is bubbly and the bread is nicely browned.
  8. Serve: Serve with crackers or baguette slices.

Notes

For even better flavor, finely chop the shrimp so you get a little bit in every bite, and let the dip rest for a few minutes after baking so it thickens slightly and the flavors meld together.
