Description

Warm miso melds with fiery ginger and bright lemon juice in this light, savory broth. Each spoonful offers gentle heat, a citrus lift and gut-friendly probiotics, perfect for sipping or building a heartier soup.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups vegetable broth
  • 2 tablespoons miso paste (preferably white or yellow)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce or tamari
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, chopped (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Step: In a medium-sized pot, bring the vegetable broth to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
  2. Step: Add the grated ginger and minced garlic to the pot, allowing them to infuse their flavors into the broth for about 5 minutes.
  3. Step: While the broth simmers, take a small bowl and mix the miso paste with a few tablespoons of hot broth. Stir until the miso is fully dissolved and smooth.
  4. Step: Pour the dissolved miso mixture back into the pot, stirring well to combine.
  5. Step: Add the soy sauce (or tamari), lemon juice, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes (if using) to the broth. Stir to ensure all ingredients are well mixed.
  6. Step: Allow the broth to simmer for an additional 5-10 minutes to meld the flavors together. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper as desired.
  7. Step: When ready to serve, ladle the broth into bowls and garnish with chopped green onions and fresh cilantro, if using.

Notes

This broth can be enjoyed warm as a soothing drink or used as a base for other soups. You can add other vegetables, like mushrooms or spinach, for added nutrition. Miso is packed with probiotics, making this broth great for gut health. Adjust the amount of ginger and garlic to your liking for a more robust flavor.
